![]() Launch a 32 bit app and the OS would politely warn you that it needed to be upgraded. These apps would have thrown up warning dialog boxes on Mojave and High Sierra, the previous versions of the MacOS. ![]() It also means that software you might have been using is now broken. That allows the OS to address truly stupendous allocations of memory. Simply put, Catalina is now a 64 bit operating system. I’m still running its predecessor, Snow Leopard on a very old laptop to be able to use a film scanner that has no post-OS9 drivers available. It’s been nine years since the Mac community has been thrown into this level of turmoil with the introduction of Lion, the first OS upgrade to drop support for OS9 apps. ![]() Some of them are just bugs others are intentional changes to the architecture of the operating system. The newest version of the Mac OS arrived last week, and it brought along a host of issues.
